OPEN SOURCE PROJECT
Outreach: One organization at a time. The Open Source Project (OSP) is an initiative permitting organizations of any size, type and industry to participate in The Green Challenges thus committing to a more sustainable business and communication strategy. The OSP is identical to the initial challenges including; GC1000, Green Accounting Challenge and Green Law Challenge in its ability for businesses of any size to build a profile, submit information and leverage the Sustainable Sitemap Initiative tools. With the open source project we at The Green Challenges can accomplish two goals. First, the initiative permits our network to grow organically through businesses that we would not normally have an opportunity to index as part of our internal efforts. Second, organizations that have strong sustainability initiatives and websites have the opportunity to earn a GC Grade "A" designation and join the ranks of nearly 400 "A" corporate leaders we have already surveyed.
The Open Source Project is recommended for businesses who have taken steps to communicate environmental strategies and commitments through their website and are seeking additional ways to earn recognition for those achievements. In order to participate in the Open Source Project individuals and/or organizations are required to become a Premium Member ($9.99/Lifetime) and submit the OSP Form. Once membership and submittal are confirmed, an organization will be added to the database and will be fully searchable and visible to the public.
Benefits to participating in the Open Source Project include:
- Listed amongst the "Top 1,200" businesses in the U.S. including their sustainability initiatives,
- Member of a searchable database valued by consumers and other businesses,
- Delivers a clear message to consumers, clients and stakeholders about sustainability,
- And access to Premium Member resources and tools.
