Over the past week we have received tremendous feedback regarding the announcement of our first Green Giant; Wyndham Worldwide.  Selecting Wyndham was a simple decision for us - we wanted to choose a leader that 'stuck out'.  Wyndham is in the services sector and more specifically in the lodging industry or as it is commonly thought of as the hospitality industry.  The hospitality industry at-large lacks in overall sustaianbility programs and corporate responsibility for numerous reasons thus leading to our selection of Wyndham.  As follow-up to the first Green Giant there are a few developments to be aware of; the next giant, our Hospitality Index and Industry Best Practices Report as well as announcemnt of our Hospitality Leadership Council.

The next Green Giant 'hails' from the Green Accounting Challenge (GAC) and is one of the national leaders in the field.  We look forward to profiling this company as our second giant because of its extraordinary efforts in employee education and engagement and its similarities to Wyndham in that it too is in a sector/industry that is currently lacking.

The first report, Hospitality Index and Best Practices Report has been temporarily delayed, however will be released next week through Top Down Ground Up and our Programs and Tools sections.  The report details all companies in the collective hospitality industry including lodging, restaurants and resorts/casinos.  The report also details web strategies regarding sustainability and environmental programs as well as best practices and tools for future implementation throughout the industry.

Also, we will announce this week the formation of our Hospitality Leadership Council which will consist of comapanies within one of the four Green Challenges in the lodging, restaurant and resort/casino industries.  The leadership council assist us in developing web standards and recommendations for the industry and provide necessary leadership in an industry still looking to find its 'green' way.
